The State office for protection of monuments in České Budějovice represents the regional authority of state care of historic monuments operating pursuant to § 33 Act of the Czech National Council No. 20/1987 Col. on state care of historic monuments.
It has been authorized as of the 1st January 1991 as a state allowance organization by the Czech Ministry of Culture, which is the administrator of State office for protection of monuments in České Budějovice. In addition to the activities defined by Law the Institution exercises the right to manage state-owned property. The relevant property of the Czech Republic is listed below :

The statutory representative of the institution is the director appointed by the Czech Ministry of Culture. The Director with upper management and management administer the institution. The Director, deputy director and chief economist create the upper management. The management is represented, apart from top management, by the heads of all detached administrations of historic buildings, heads of all departments and sections of the institution and the head of trade union.
The State Castle Český Krumlov accommodates detached department of the State office for protection of monuments in České Budějovice which operates within the Český Krumlov Town Preserve, and Administration of Český Krumlov Castle.
